Fourth and fifth grade students at Tackan Elementary School showed off their knowledge of the workings of the judicial system when they put Goldilocks on trial on Nov. 7 and 8.

After weeks of preparation, the trial was set to determine the fate of Goldilocks – who was charged with criminal mischief, trespassing and petty larceny. Accused of trespassing at the Three Bears’ home, eating Papa Bear’s porridge and leftover chicken, stealing money, trying on Mama Bear’s dresses and breaking a rocking chair, she went on trial against the plaintiffs, the Three Bears.

As Goldilocks’ lawyers and the prosecution went toe to toe trying to prove their respective clients’ cases, other fairy tale characters were called to testify as witnesses, including the Big Bad Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, the Gingerbread Man, the Three Blind Mice, Chicken Little and more.

After hearing all the facts in the case, the jury of fourth grade classes had the opportunity to hand down a verdict and sentencing for Goldilocks, which varied from class to class.
