During the Aug. 20 Board of Education meeting, incoming ninth grader Vincent Mangilomini presented the project he worked on this summer in the district’s C.A.M.P. (Character, Academics, Mindset, Preparedness) program. The program encompasses social-emotional learning with academics.

“Our ultimate goal is to expose students to resiliency,” said Elizabeth Stein, program coordinator. “We look to embrace struggles as part of the learning process. We teach our students to be creative, innovative and empower them as learners."

During the camp, students worked on a Genius Hour project, something they could explore and research that they were passionate about. Vincent, who is also in the Navy Seal cadet program, presented his project on a drone that could be used for military personnel. The drone is attached to an armband that came be worn for urban warfare.
