High School West students are learning how to scribe music online in their music theory class in their new electronic music lab. Students in Jim Brosnan’s class were recently working with the program Finale to compose their own music. The school’s new electronic media lab has 25 individual workstations featuring keyboards, computers and headphones. The course teaches students all major and minor keys and scales, all phases of rhythm, sight-reading, interval and chord reading, melodic and rhythmic dictation, and the beginnings of analysis in four-part writing.
