Math Carnival Adds Up to Fun

It was a carnival of activity as math students at Accompsett Middle School designed their own probability games on March 23.

In this hands-on probability challenge, students were tasked with creating their own game of chance and calculating its win/loss probability and outcomes. The project had students investigate games of chance by using the probability concepts and applying them in designing, creating and analyzing their own game.

After the design of the games was complete, Accompsett students experimented with everyone’s game, and even win prizes during the probability carnival. Students wrote reflections on the different games and discussed how certain probabilities were relevant outside of the classroom.
