Ruby Bridges, American activist, visited St. James Elementary School. At the age of six, Ruby was escorted by federal marshals to desegregate an all white school in the South. Ms. Bridges captivated her audience as she spoke for two hours, sharing her experience as a first grader in New Orleans in 1960. In between presentations, Ruby autographed books, answered questions and posed for pictures. Her warmth, humor and poignant message was enlightening for all. This was the third time Ruby visited St. James Elementary school.
