Students Learn How to Be Smart, Safe and Social Online

Juniors and seniors from High School West learned how to use social media to impress prospective colleges and future employers after a visit and presentation from social media expert and author Josh Ochs on Oct. 19.

Ochs gave the students tips, examples and tactics to enhance and potentially change their online presence. Students learned how to “shine” online and use social media to boost their image. Searching your name on Google will give you a good idea of how you are perceived online, Ochs said. “Create a positive image portfolio and show your best side; flood the internet with positive images and messages,” he added.

Thanks to the sponsorship of the High School West PTA, an evening presentation was available to parents about how colleges and employers research online.
