Pairing Up for Pumpkin Activities

Hands-on pumpkin activities recently took place at Branch Brook when kindergartners in Sharon Weissman’s class and third-graders in Annamarie Polito’s class joined together for a pumpkin experience.

The two classes buddied up and worked together with one pumpkin per group, grown in Mrs. Polito’s dad’s farm in upstate New York. The students worked cooperatively to count the lines in their pumpkin (indicating how long the pumpkin was on the vine), measure their pumpkin with unifix cubes and conduct a float/sink experiment with their pumpkin.
