The district’s three middle schools – Accompsett, Great Hollow and Nesaquake – welcomed incoming sixth-grade students during summer orientation programs on Aug. 29 at the respective buildings.

Administrators and faculty, and even the Smithown Bull, were there to greet the future Class of 2023 and help ease their transition from elementary school. The sixth-graders had the opportunity to meet their classmates, new teachers and administrative staff.

After a brief meeting about policies and procedures, the students received their schedules and locker assignments. Student agendas, donated by the PTA, were handed out to help the sixth-graders stay organized and manage their time. The sixth-graders were free to tour the building and practice their schedule and lockers.
