The district is making learning fun for its students who are taking part in a variety of camps and programs running throughout July and the beginning of August at Accompsett Middle School.

Four different camps are housed at Accompsett – Middle School C.A.M.P. (Character Academics Mindset Preparedness), English as a New Language, SCOPE Summer Enrichment and the Friends of Smithtown Music lessons.

Student-musicians have time to hone their skills with one-on-one and group lessons sponsored by the Friends of Smithtown Music. Students who are new to the English language are also polishing their expertise during the summer months as well. The SCOPE program mixes fun and learning as students participate in hands-on activities in the arts, technology and science.

C.A.M.P students are spending the summer building their academic, creative, social and emotional skill-sets. They are learning about creative arts, mind-body medicine, positive psychology, nutrition, relationship development, resilience training, stress reduction, and movement and exercise. For example, they are practicing yoga, meditation, biofeedback technology and working collaboratively.
