Kindergartners in Sharon Weissman’s class and third-graders in Annamarie Polito’s class at Branch Brook buddied up to perform a hands-on science lesson on May 20.

Dressed in lab coats, the kindergarten and third-grade students became scientists for the afternoon as they paired for an experiment to test how many rocks it would take to sink their boats.

After lessons on the concept of sink and float, the students designed their own boats out of aluminum foil. The buddies were then tasked with predicting how many rocks it would take to sink their boat.
