Robotics Team Visits Family Homeless Shelter

In an effort to continually strengthen the community-school connection, the robotics team visited the Family Service League homeless shelter in Brentwood in April.
The members of the Mechanical Bulls team spent the afternoon introducing the field of robotics to homeless children. The children learned some basics about robotics and were shown three different types of robots created by the team. Team members discussed the various competitions and preparations needed to compete in the rigorous FIRST Robotics Competitions. The team talked about the challenge for this year’s FIRST Stronghold competition and introduced the design process they followed to develop their robot.

Robotics team members then drove the robot around the room and used the robot to roll a ball to multiple children from the shelter. The children asked great questions and enjoyed watching and learning about robots.
