The Digital Media Club from Accompsett Middle School visited the Stony Brook University School of Journalism on May 6.

Club members toured the SBU journalism newsroom and viewed broadcasts and video projects created by Stony Brook journalism students. Students also got the chance to ask questions about techniques, software, equipment and more.

They also attended a presentation on news literacy, which included tips on how to evaluate news for accuracy and reliability. The Accompsett students found the presentation particularly relevant as they are constantly striving to enhance their own AMS TV News productions.

“They came away with a renewed excitement for their work in the digital media lab as well as some new ideas for future broadcasts,” said Donna DeLuca, library media specialist and Digital Media Club adviser.
