East and West Take Top Spots in Physics Olympics

High School East and High School West took home first and second place overall, respectively, in the Long Island Physics Olympics on March 23 at Farmingdale State College.
    
The district’s two high school teams competed again 16 schools from across Long Island. In addition to its first place overall finish, East finished first in Fermi Questions, second in Pendulum of Doom and second in Physics Bowl. The East team included Sanjana Eranki, Andrew Tamis, Jake Taub, Brendan Volz and Ruisi Zhong.
    
Second-place winner West ranked second in Fermi Questions, first in Pendulum of Doom and third in Physics Bowl. West’s team included Stephen Kyranakis, Ryan Scheinberg, Sasha Sokolov, Bradley Zhou and Cory Zhou.
