Second Place Honors in Theater Competition

Five theater students from High School East District participated in the Nassau Community College Honors Program’s Monologue Competition on March 19. Ninth-grader Emily DeAugustino was awarded second place in the 9th/10th grade division.
Additional competitors included ninth-grader Katrina Nocerino, 11th-graders Dana Tortora, Max Sherman and Sarah Weynand, who were tasked with reciting a two-minute monologue of their choice (from a play, literary source or an original piece) to fit the event theme, “What Matters?”

Students were judged on the appropriateness to theme, clarity of expression, dramatic effectiveness, and thorough execution and overall presentation.
