Sewing Makes Cents

Three Nesaquake sixth-graders are using their learned skills to help raise money for an animal rescue organization.

Alice Cheselka’s Family and Consumer Science class is learning how to sew on a sewing machine. Three students in the class – Imogen Irons, Lauren Kaplan and Payton Zografikas – are using their newly acquired skills to make dog bandanas. All of the money raised from the sale of the bandanas will be donated to Guardians of Rescue, a no-kill rescue organization located in Smithtown.

“The students cannot wait to make more; they are having so much fun with this project,” Mrs. Cheselka said.

The bandanas are being sold in the school library for $6 each or two for $10.
