Great Hollow Science Teams Score Big

Great Hollow placed ninth overall in the Science and Technology Olympiad Regional Competition at Candlewood Middle School in Dix Hills on Feb. 27.  
Led by team coaches and science teachers Rachel Delaney, Katerina Siolos, Lunne Schiraldi and Kristen Dicpinigaitis, two teams competed against other Suffolk County schools in 18 different science and technology related events.

Several team members received medals in their events including: Shubh Thaker and Ike Zhang (third place, anatomy); Jessica Finger and Teresa Duong (fourth place, bio-process); Naomi Economou and Jack Jaeger (fourth place, green generation); Erin Holler and Matt Kalisky (sixth place, invasive species); Jack Jaeger and Justin Grafstein (sixth place, microbe mission); and Jack Jaeger and Jessica Finger (fifth place, write it/do it).
