Alumni Return for Master Musical Classes

High School East alumni, currently pursuing higher education in the field of music, returned to work with band students on Dec. 23.  The alum held three 80-minute master classes throughout the day with students in Concert Band and Symphonic Band.
    
Trumpet player Gianluca Farina, a 2011 graduate, was the only ninth-grader to be registered for Symphonic Band on the trumpet while attending East. After high school, he attended SUNY Fredonia for music education. Presently, he is at New England Conservatory of Music pursuing a Masters degree in music performance.

French horn player Diana Allan, a 2009 Smithtown East graduate, was the only ninth-grader to perform with Symphonic Band on French horn while at East. She attended Mansfield University for music education and is presently at Mannes/The New School (Music Conservatory) pursuing a Masters degree in music performance.

Flutist Matthew Ross, a 2011 graduate, played percussion in Percussion Ensemble, piano in Jazz Ensemble, bassoon in Concert Band, flute in Symphonic Band and oboe, clarinet and flute in Pit orchestras. He graduated from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music with a Music performance degree in flute.

Presently, he is at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music pursuing a Masters degree in music performance.
