Accompsett Middle School participated in the Hour of Code over two weeks in December. Each student had the chance to learn basic coding after watching a brief video program on coding. Using the “Angry Birds” game, students were able to make the characters move through different levels, each one getting progressively more complex.

This is the first year the entire school has participated in the event and the students enjoyed the experience. “The students loved it because they feel like they are playing a game,” said Donna DeLuca, Library Media Specialist. “They are using logic, critical thinking and problem solving. Coding is considered the 21st century literacy; much of what we use and need is run by a computer program.”
