High School East hosted more than 30 Long Island school districts for the seventh annual Compassion Without Borders Conference on Nov. 4, sponsored by the Suffolk County High School Principals Association.

The goal of the conference is to encourage students to become leaders who inspire and make a difference in their school and community. A small group of leadership students from each district gathered along with their peers for a day of activities, starting with a keynote presentation by guest speaker Ed Gerety. The students divided into small groups and attended student-led workshops that presented curricula for participants to bring back to their schools and communities.
