Before the schools closed last month, fifth graders in Mrs. Walsh and Mrs. Floyd’s class at Smithtown Elementary School completed a STEM challenge to build the highest structure using marshmallows and uncooked spaghetti. The towers could be built using any guidelines except the marshmallows could not be altered. The challenge helped the students not only with their STEM skills, but also builds teamwork and communication.
