Students in Amy Olander’s science class at Accompsett Middle School are learning all about the plant cycle and how to grow plants hydroponically. The classes are using an aquaponics system to show how the eco-cycle works. The tank,  which is housed in the back of the classroom, uses hydroponics for plants while the whole nitrogen cycle keeps the fish and plants healthy. The waste/bacteria from the fish breaks down and turns into fertilizer to feed the plants. The class plans to use the system to grow vegetables and greens.
